I realized that I've been getting the same error when I play files with .mkv extension. Before this, I got it while watching Code Geass R2 using the same player. Since I already installed the latest VLC player, perhaps the problem is on the player itself. Maybe it does not support mkv file.
When I searched on google for mkv player, I found GOM player and it does solve my problem!
It even plays as many files extensions as VLC supports and it does not need any separate codecs instalation.
