Looking for digital camera from sophisticated digital SLRs to the amateur point-and-shoot in Singapore?
Some of these tips might be helpful for you.
1. Do Research
- check reviews of the camera you are looking for at some IT portals such as www.pcmag.com, www.cnet.com or her localized sister: asia.cnet.com, since you might not get the full coverage buyers' review you may want to:
- check buyers review on www.amazon.com
- if you have time, use google specialized search to get more review or discussion from particular websites or forums:
for example, if you want to get some discussion for latest Sony DSC-T77 Cybershot, from well known Singapore Hardwarezone.com forum, you can try to google this keyword:
"Sony T77 site:forums.hardwarezone.com.sg"
2. Check Price
- You can get estimated price from asia.cnet.com, but sometimes it is a bit overpriced, to get best deal you can check:
- Bargain City, this is like amazon.com where they only have online store and deliver order to you
- Ms Color, you can get e-quotation for camera model that you want. They usually reply very promptly
- Harvey Norman or Courts, although I think that these stores does not offer best deal so far
- Some stores at Funan IT Mall: Allan photo, Bally Photo or Bestcam
- Latest day of PC show, IT show or SITEX, I notice that they only offer best price at last day of the exhibition
On my experience, Ms Color offered best price for camera model I was looking for.
3. Check the Product
The most important thing is you need to check the camera and packaging content as well as warranty.

Nokia 6500 Classic Hidden Tips and Tricks

I found some useful things that are hidden in this phone. I also discovered many other hidden feature common to the Symbian Series 40 used by many new Nokia phones, including Nokia 6500. Some of them are:
1. Set Volume
Setting the volume is not as easy as standard Nokia phone, which can be done by pressing the side button since this model does not have a single side button. To set the volume, you need to make a phone call and once the call is connected, you can press navigation button up or down to adjust the voice volume
2. Press and hold a button for numeric output
In messaging, while creating a new message, you may just need to press and hold one of the numeric keypad to produce number. Pressing and holding key '1' for about 2 seconds will generate '1' on the messaging screen. Number mode can also be set by press-and-holding '#' button, which is beneficial if you need to write many numbers in a row
3. Press '0' key 3 times for an 'Enter'
Return character for a new line can be generated by pressing '0' key for 3 times
4. Insert Number
Old Nokia phones are famous for their 'insert number' feature, to copy a number from phonebook to new message. This feature is not so obvious on the new models. It is hidden in the Option » Insert Contact Detail. Symbian actually provides feature to 'Insert Business Card', but it will change the message format from SMS to MMS that generally costs more.

Wait for iPhone 2.0 on June
Planning to buy an iPhone or iPod Touch within this week? If you ask my opinion, I would suggest you to wait until June this year.

Apple has already set a date for its Worldwide Developer Converence (WWDC) on June 9-13 as the company is offering new tracks for its iPhone, Mac that might shake IT world. Focus on iPhone will be on the new SDK release as well as new firmware dubbed as iPhone 2.0 used by multi-touch devices: iPhone and iPod Touch. The new firmware is said to be available freely to iPhone. However, iPod Touch users require to pay for the firmware update.
iPhone 2.0 contains a drastic change from previous firmware version in its openness to third party applications. Developer will be able to submit iPhone - iPod Touch application to Apple and successful application will made it listed on Apple's App Store.
Many rumors are already widely spread about the two Apple products ranging from Nike+, Apple and Nike collaboration for iPhone with GPS and A2DP capability, and Safari Youtube plugin, to 3G iPhone. You might also heard that Apple is slashing iPhone price in many countries. It is also mentioned as well that Apple is working on a new generation of Mac perhaps with aluminum shell.
Btw, if you happen to live in Singapore. I think I have a recommendation where to buy iPod Touch in Singapore. You can get it at WhyMobile at Far East Plaza, Orchard. Today, I found that they offer 8G iPod Touch at S$460, where its price in Apple store sits at S$498. I heard their service is quite good.
